Research evidences that when parents engage in their children learning
outcomes for babies and children improve. Our practice guidance
Realising the Ambition highlights that parents/carers know and understand their child best and are their child's first and often the most influential educator. Learning at home includes everyday learning
experiences that take place at home, outdoors or in the community.
There are three home learning mats that we will use here at Arbor Green. In each learning mat there are suggestions of rhyme, song, story and play
experiences for children and families to engage with. Families can click
on the link within the mat for further ideas. Learning mats can be created following a child’s interest in their favourite story, rhyme or song. Family learning encourages family members to learn together as a family, with a focus on intergenerational learning.
