Today, we introduced the children to Busójárás, a Hungarian festival that helps scare away winter and welcome spring. Our wonderful practitioner, Viktoria, who is from Hungary shared a part of her culture with the children. Busójárás!

We brought the celebration to life with pictures, showing them the festival’s traditional costumes, spooky masks, and the loud rattles used to make big noises. The festival ends with a huge bonfire, so we took inspiration from that and built our own fire pit. The children quickly joined in, using blocks to create a sturdy base for the fire.

  • I am learning about a Hungarian traditional festival.

  • I am learning about transition from winter to spring

  • I am developing physical coordination and rhythm.

  • I am learning to work together while dancing, creating a sense of community and cooperation.

  • I am using my imagination.
