Day 24 of our 30 Days Wild Challenge was to design a wild home from a bug hotel to a hedgehog hideout.
The bug hotel in our area was looking very sad and empty so we decided to remake it to give the bugs a better home.
From the field the children collected sticks, grass, leaves and flowers and everyone filled plastic bottles that were cut in half, with different pieces. We then filled our “bug hotel” tyre with all the bottles, layering them with egg cartons and pieces of wood.
After we finished building our wild home for the bugs, we discussed what types of bugs would like and visit each space we created and hoped we would be able to discuss soon which one visited first.
If you’ve completed this challenge, please share with us what wild home you designed as we’d love to see it!
