During our child's voice circle time, we discovered a new topic of interest, camping!
Throughout this new topic, we will be exploring all elements of camping in the UK; from different destinations to activities whilst camping, to transportation and what animals and plants we will find along the way. Let the adventure begin.
The children started by looking at some maps of Scotland and picking the destinations they wished to explore. From there, the children packed a camping bag based on the weather today. Everyone agrees it's cloudy and rainy, thus a good idea to pack a waterproof jacket, trousers, wellies, socks, a tent, a sleeping bag, a drink bottle and sandwiches instead of a sun hat, sandals and ice cream. The children also agreed we should take matches and or a lighter along with a map on our adventure. Everyone took a turn in placing an item into our backpack.
Our tent was set up and campfire lit, with children showing a great sense of imagination as they role played in the tent and around the campfire using sticks to cook toast, sausages, and marshmallows before requesting we get sleeping bags for around the campfire.
Day one of our camping adventure was over with the children tucked up in their sleeping bags. Join us on day two of our camping adventure to see what the children get up to next.
