A couple of weeks ago, we began discussing the changing of the seasons, from summer to Autumn.
We spoke about what happens in Autumn, the changing colours of the leaves, the change in weather and temperature, the clothes we will wear, animals going into hibernation and how it is now time to harvest the food that we have been growing over the past year.
So that’s what we did, we harvested, starting with corn and then some potatoes. The children poured out our bag of potatoes, with everyone joining in digging through it to find some potatoes. We then weighted some of the potatoes with scales the children had taken out to see how heavy they were and to practice our numeracy skills in number recognition and measurement. We then counted all of our potatoes and found that we had 61 potatoes!
